Lemons belong to the citrus group known as acid citrus. Fruit is highly acidic and is mainly used for culinary purposes rather than eating fresh. Lemons flower several times in a season. This means that trees can have several crops of different ages growing all at once. Fruit is harvested several times during a season. The main Lemon crop is picked in Winter (June –Sept) with smaller yet still significant crops in Spring and Summer.
