NZ Grapefruit was first introduced to NZ in the mid 1800’s from Australia. Strains of the true Grapefruit Citrus paradisi cannot be grown satisfactorily in NZ because of their high heat requirements. NZ Grapefruit has yellow skin and orange-yellow flesh. The Cutlers Red variety has a deep orange rind but internally it is the same as the other cultivars.
